" I like it a little lighter , I ’ll always take the Army of Darkness way to go . My granddaughter , she ’s 8 , I guess could see that movie . It ’s speak skeletons , for God ’s rice beer . Evil Dead ’s a little grim , I like the filmmaking , Sam ’s a really skillful filmmaker , there ’s some great filmmaking sequences in there . A man alone in a cabin , really cool episode , but I do n’t know , I would n’t wanna get whole stuck in that world , … With Evil Dead 2 , we started to add gags , like slapstick . We wound up promise it ' splatstick . ' Only because I do n’t need people fainting in the theater , I ’m an entertainer . I want people to scream [ peeking from behind their hand ] . Sort of express mirth and screaming at the same time . "
The Sam Raimi Approach To Evil Dead Shouldn’t Be Copied
Campbell may choose the repulsion - drollery smell achieved by Raimi in the originalEvil Deadmovies , but he admits that it is n’t realistic to anticipate remake directors to simulate that approach , as he also toldComicBook.com :
" We let the filmmakers decide . Sam puts it on their home . Fede Álvarez wanted to do a unbowed version , because the original Evil Dead is sort of melodramatic . Trying to copy Raimi ’s horror - comedy access would just be a disaster , and it ’s better if filmmakers put their own spin on the material . It just pass that Alvarez and Cronin choose their horror darkness and gruesome , unlike Campbell , who require audience to have a good laugh while they ’re being gross out .
