House of the Dragongave Laenor a phony deathin time of year 1 , convincing all of Westeros that he had been killed while allowing him to escape to Essos and a spirit of peace with his lover , Qarl Correy . That seemed to be the ending of his story , though there is potential for his return .
The sheer fact that Laenor is still alert means it ’s at least theoretically possible that he comes back inHouse of the Dragonseason 2 . It would be an even liberal alteration to George R.R. Martin’sFire & Bloodthan him outlive in the first place , not to mention a change to Rhaenyra Targaryen ’s narration too . Still , theHouse of the Dragonseason 2 trailerdoes tease it .
Seasmoke Returns In House Of The Dragon Season 2 - But With Addam of Hull
Seasmoke gets a new rider in House of the Dragon season 2.
One moment in theHouse of the Dragonseason 2 poke come across Rhaenyra and her dragon , Syrax , issue forth face to face with another dragon and a mysterious person who can not be made out . The dragon , though , looks like Seasmoke , who was previously ridden by Laenor , and leave riderless after his " death " . With Rhaenyra needing dragonriders and one of her and Laenor ’s children ( even if he is n’t the real father ) being killed , it ’s theoretically potential he does repay to help save the day . Rhaenyra ’s reaction , looking in disbelief , only stick out that whim .

Regardless of who his Church Father is , Addam is capable to bond with Laenor ’s dragon Seasmoke , and becomes his Modern rider for the Dance of the Dragons . Given Addam ’s role in the book and that an actor has been cast in the theatrical role , then it would make far more mother wit for this to be the moment where he claim Seasmoke . Rhaenyra ’s reaction would check too , since she ’d be ascertain her " former " husband ’s dragon lay claim by someone else , and learning that he did supposedly father baby with another woman before conjoin her , despite not sustain any with Rhaenyra .
Could Laenor Still Return In House Of The Dragon?
