In a preview forShazam # 6by Mark Waid and Dan Mora , Billy ’s foster siblingand good friend Freddy Freemanhas volunteer to be the latest Champion after Billy turned down the position . However , Freddy secretly reveals it ’s just a trick to buy time and encourages Billy to attack him .
The two attempt to fake a fight long enough to wait for reinforcement to come , but Zeus sees through their act and ready to lash out . Thankfully , their sibling ( and new ally Mr. Dinosaur ) arrive with weapons and gear fromthe Rock of Eternity . Leading the inner circle is Eugene , who declares his sib asthe New Squadron of Justice .
Shazam’s Family Have Finally Gotten Superhero Codenames and New Weapons
Shazam , or the Captain as he goes by nowadays , was n’t the only mightiest deadly around when he first arise his power . In his updated blood line in the New 52 , Billy chose to share his power with his surrogate siblings , each one of them just as potent as the Captain . However , the death of the wizard Shazam cut off access to Billy ’s sib , leave him the only wielder of the wizard ’s power . Mary , however , was able-bodied to gain standardized tycoon duringLazarus satellite : Revenge of the Gods . But beyond that , Freddy , Eugene , Darla , and Pedro stay on powerless(though Billy has sworn he ’d find a way to restore their ability ) .
Shockingly , when Shazam ’s family had their abilities , none of them ever took superhero name , so this is a big development for Billy ’s siblings . They ’ve also take the thoroughgoing team name for themselves with the Squadron of Justice . Hardcore fans of the Captain know that there were two iteration of the Squadron , both with connections to Shazam . And like the 2nd Squadron of Justice , the kids all borrow their raw identity from the original squadron ( Bulletgirl , Spy Smasher , etc ) . They ’ve also catch magic weapon system such as an invincible night club and the ibistick . While it ’s not the powers they had before , Billy ’s siblings can last facilitate their brotherwith their new weapon and gear .
The Shazam Family is Getting Back into Fighting Form
While the Captain ’s strength is on par with Superman , having his kinsperson battle by his side made the job a lot easy and more fun for Billy . alas , he ’s hold a tough time figuring out how to partake in his illusion , especially with the gods interfering . But thanks to the numerous magic relics the Captain has accrued , his family can become law-breaking - scrapper again . It ’s not what they ’re used to , but it keeps theShazamfamily together until Billy can find another style to pass along his major power .
